Hi Blues in Britain
Thanks for being here!!
Can I mention a blues club in South East London please.
Blue Boom at The Monty is a blues club run on the 3rd Saturday of every month at the world famous Montague Arms, Queens Road, New Cross Gate, SE15 (voted best pub in the UK in the 2009 Rough Pub guide – it’s totally weird and wacky and is a perfect blues venue – should be in New Orleans not New Cross!! – but hey – New Cross is the new Greenwich Village – so why not).
Anyway – every 3rd Saturday of the month we have a different blues band playing great music – things start around 9 and end sort of later….
November sees little devils making their first visit since releasing their new album – “This is how it starts” which can be checked out on their myspace site:
http://www.myspace.com/littledevilsmusic
December sees the return of The Blue Bishops complete with their new album “In the Red” – should be a great party atmosphere – Christmas is coming…
There is more planned for new year including live radio broadcasts, video shoots and loads more – so please – come along and support your local blues boom!!
Many thanks and good luck to all
Graeme

hey..this is an obsolete site of a band i had in the yale-newhaven area…but my strenghts lie in acoustic jazz blues where my voice can flourish more. how do i get to play jobs in england? i’d like to spend my life doing that. i’ve been to DK and Holland several times years ago. i am a working prep-school music teacher but would give that up in a heartbeat !!! =]
Hello Blues in Britain,
Just wanted to let you know about a night I started called A Go-Go which runs every 2nd & 4th Thursday of the month. A Go-Go brings you some of the best acts on the funk/soul/blues scene live at Peter Parker’s Rock n’ Roll Club, 4 Denmark Street, London WC2H 8LP.
On Thursday 26th November, A Go-Go presents JERRY HAGLUND AND THE BLUES SENSATIONS
Swedish blues guitarist/singer Jerry Haglund has been playing the blues since he picked up the guitar at the tender age of 10, performing professionally from the age of 16 and has played at many famous venues including the Royal Albert Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, the Barbican, Camden’s Jazz Café and at the Royal Variety Performance for The Queen and Prince Charles.
The Blues Sensation is comprised of some of London’s finest young musicians whose collective experience includes performances with acts such as Madness, James Taylor Quartet, Basement Jaxx, Dave Holland, Kenny Wheeler and Lemarr to name a few.
Rockin’ blues — Check ‘em out, Mama!

The A Go-Go gigs are growing in reputation and word’s spreading around town about the good times we’ve been having. Thanks to all who came along to help us launch A Go-Go way back in the summer and to all the bands for their fantastic performances.
The feedback about recent move to Peter Parker’s Rock ’n’ Roll Club has been fabulous! Peter Parker’s was formerly the fabled Regent Sound Studios where the Stones recorded their first album, the Kinks recorded ‘You Really Got Me’, Black Sabbath recorded ‘Paranoid & Elton John famously failed an audition as well as many other seminal moments of music history.
Peter Parker’s is what you’ve long been waiting for on a night out — a cool, mellow basement bar with the kind of vibe and decor that sets it far apart from the standard London clubs.
In the words of ViewLondon: ‘The cool Harlem-esque front of Peter Parker’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Club looks like something straight out of an Al Jolson flick, and the vibrant setting of Tin Pan Alley adds that little bit extra you won’t find further down the road in Soho or Covent Garden.’
Should be another great night so hope to see many of you there.
All the best
Isabelle

Hello Blues in Britain,
Just wanted to let you know that SAM KELLLY’S STATION HOUSE will be bringing their fusion of blues/funk to Peter Parker’s Rock n’ Roll Club, 4 Denmark Street, London WC2H 8LP on THURSDAY 11TH MARCH 2010
SAM KELLY, original member of 70’s funk band Cymande, has been voted in to Blues In Britain ‘Gallery Of The Greats’ after winning ‘UK Drummer of the Year’ five years running. His self taught style of drumming has placed him in the drumseat with Dr. John, Chaka Khan, Eddie Floyd, Robert Plant, Michelle Shocked and Gary Moore.
The band’s unique sound is a mix of influences such as British funk, soul, jazz, calypso and reggae. The result is an eclectic fusion of music with its roots firmly based in the blues.
