I went to the 21st Burnley Blues Festival, at Easter, which had its best ever line-up. Congratulations to Barbara Hood and her staff at The Mechanics. For once the sun shone the whole weekend, which made the canal cruise with Eddie Martin particularly delightful. We will be running a review of the festival later.

In this issue, we have e-letters about Hokie Joint, Sean Taylor and The Baddest Blues Band – ever! who all have new albums out, and The Hokum Hotshots who celebrate forty years of playing together.

Chris Smither also has a new album out, called Time Stands Still. Trevor Hodgett talked to Chris for Blues In Britain. Chris will play some UK dates in August.

Son of Dave is the alter ego of Canadian Benjamin Darvill. I had lunch with Ben just after Christmas and we talked about his highly original album O2 and the third single to be released from the album, a re-working of  “Nike Town” called “Ain’t Going To Nike Town”. He is touring in the UK this month.

We also have reports of the Boogaloo Blues Weekend, at Alvaston Hall in Cheshire, and The 9th Swanage Blues Festival and the usual live reviews and CD reviews. Thank you to all our reviewers and photographers for their contributions, without which there would be no magazine.
